How to save energy on your iPhone
I was very surprised to learn just how much energy my little iPhone can use up. It seems like because it is such a small object, its environmental footprint should be fairly small. However, with all the iPhones across the Earth, iPhones use up a substantial amount of energy. In this article I will list five ways to reduce the energy usage by your iPhone.
1. Manually lower your screen brightness so that your screen isn't always using the maximum amount of brightness possible. You can also turn on your auto-brightness setting so that you don't have to manually turn it down. This is great because if you turn this setting on then you won't have to adjust your brightness all the time. This setting is very easy to access under settings and then under Display. Also, having a dimmer screen will be kinder on your eyes and give you less headaches.
2. Turn off location services. Only a few apps need your location, and none of them need it all the time without the app in use. Your phone uses a ton of energy in the background trying to figure out where you are, which is completely unnecessary.
3. Turn off your notifications. The 80 notifications you get a day alerting you about unnecessary information uses up a lot of energy. By turning off nonessential push notifs, you can help to your iPhone's energy consumption.
4. Don't leave your phone plugged in overnight. iPhones only need about an hour to charge completely, and keeping yours plugged in for 8 hours every night when you are sleeping is a huge waste of energy.
5. Disable Bluetooth. Your phone uses up a lot of energy searching for devices to connect to their bluetooth service, and turning this off is a great way to save energy. This is beyond easy to do, as it is in your toolbar right next to your wifi and airplane mode buttons.
I hope this was helpful and made you realize that saving energy doesn't have to be stressful. For more information about your iPhone, check out the iPhone's Online Manual.
