Apple Consumer Social Responsibility Comm 112
I chose Apple as the company that I would research because I have used Apple technology for most of my life. The first ever Apple product I had was a tiny iPod shuffle. Apple and I have come a long way since then. Now I have an iPhone, a MacBook, and AirPods. Apple has had a huge impact on me and on the world. I looked at Apple's Consumer Social Responsibility and saw that it is very impressive. In my opinion, the most impressive aspect of Apple's Consumer Social Responsibility policy is that they are educating workers in mines and factories that are crucial in the production of their products on their rights. When people know their rights they are less likely to be put under oppressive circumstances. Apple also gives their employees ways to anonymously speak up if their rights are being infringed upon. Apple also ensures that the workers in factories associated with their company and products have fair working hours and are not subjected to abuse from their employers.
Apple is also working hard to reduce waste and the act of putting toxic materials back into the ecosystem after production of their products are completed. Apple is striving to reduce carbon emissions that contribute to climate change and do reduce the amount of toxic metals used in their products. They also have a great buy back program where they will take outdated or broken phones and recycle them, reducing waste and helping save the environment from chemicals leaking back into the earth.
