Slander and Libel

Kesha accused her produced of not only raping her, but raping Katy Perry as well. This is an example of slander because she said this with no evidence. There was evidence, however, that he did rape Kesha. This was a step back in her case against him, which she filed after the #MeToo movement.
Elon Musk called a cave explorer a Pedo Guy, while they were fighting to donate money to a charitable cause. People got upset about it, especially the cave guy. This is an example of libel because it was written on Twitter for the world to see.
Casino owner Steve Wynn sued Joe Francis for 20 million dollars in a defamation case after he claimed he threatened his life in an email. This is an example of libel because it was in written word. The threat was over an alleged gambling debt owed.
ABC allegedly called a meat product produced by BPI “pink slime,” which was clearly defamation as ABC is a huge broadcasting network and has several million viewers. This statement was very influential in establishing the public’s viewpoints on BPI’s company and products.
Tati Westbrook claimed that James Charles made several lewd comments about gay men while out in public together, made a video about it, and posted it to YouTube. The reaction against Charles was staggering, and he lost several thousand subscribers on YouTube as his name was dragged through the mud. This was an example of slander because she spoke all these accusations against James instead of writing them down.
