Who: Spray tan professional Katie McWilliams

What: The application of 113 spray tans in under an hour. 

Where: Sioux City, Iowa.

When: February 25^th, 2020. 

Why: To break the Guinness World Record for most spray tans in under an hour. The current record is 107. 

How: Katie got local volunteers to get free spray tans at Sun Tan City to help her achieve her goal.

So What: It is quite an impressive feat for one person to give 113 spray tans in a single hour. Every spray tan I have ever gotten has taken at least 15-20 minutes. According to UPI, McWilliams also said of the event, “It means a lot to me that people are here and they're embracing spray tanning and that they want to come and support each other, the body positivity that happened tonight and we didn't even realize that's what we were doing." 

What’s Next: Katie’s record must be approved by the Guinness World Record Committee before becoming official. The details have been submitted already.

            Who: 18 year-old carpet python named Monty.

            

            What: Monty swallowed an entire beach towel, which then had to be removed from her gastrointestinal system. 

            Where: Sydney, Australia.

            

            When: February 20, 2020. 

Why: The towel had to be removed from Monty’s stomach quite soon after it was discovered as whatever polyester blend the towel was likely made of would not be able to digested by the python, resulting in death. 

How: Forceps were shoved down Monty’s throat until the end of the beach towel was located. The towel was then pulled out, all in one piece. 

So What: it is very impressive that Monty was able to swallow an entire beach towel, and even more impressive that the veterinary team behind the extraction were able to execute the operation so quickly. A video was included in the article, and whole process was documented. 

What Now: Monty was able to go home from the hospital the same day as her procedure, the towel remained in one piece, as well.
